Eyes

Eyes captivate, they draw us into the portrait, tell us a story, display emotions and give a portrait that feeling of being more than just a portrayal of a sitter, but a feeling of them being alive and real. So, painting the eyes becomes so important, it’s not just getting it right ( structure, anatomy, value, color relationships). But most importantly making them expressive of the inner world of the sitter. So in this lesson, my task was to show how I see and what I think while painting the eye. You see me start with structural block in drawing then you will see me lose most of it to the large color value shapes and then find my way back to the very painterly eye. I hope you will see ( especially in the second part) how many times I make small shifts, adjustments, additions, and subtractions of brushstrokes those are the footprints of the search for answers that look “ right or satisfying to me”. You might choose a different path but the roadmap, the logical thinking behind every decision is the same or similar and that’s what I try to share with you. Included in Lesson: 1 Reference Photo 1 Image of Finished Painting 2 Diagrams 1 Instructional Video (Duration: 1 hours 26 minutes) Unlimited access to the lesson.
